PICS Faculty and Staff Profiles 2011-2012
Our faculty is hired through a rigorous interview and evaluation process and participate in a special training program to assist them in teaching in an international context. Much like our student body, our faculty is diverse and brings to our school community a wealth of experience. Our teaching faculty are certified educators who possess bachelor's degrees in their areas of instruction, many of whom are educated to a master's degree and beyond. Pyeongtaek International Christian School highly values the philosophy of employing and encouraging our staff members to model lifelong learning and as such, we support a wide range of ongoing professional and staff development programs in order to facilitate our staff’s continual improvement in knowledge, skills and classroom effectiveness.
Administration
Tad Romsa
Mr. Romsa is originally from Wyoming where he taught for 12 years in the public school system. Mr. Romsa began his career as a Kindergarten teacher in 1993 and has taught grades 2, 3, 4, 2/3 Multi-age, and 3/4 Multi-age. He arrived at PICS in 2005 and taught 2nd grade. The following year he taught 6th grade and then became HS Principal and eventually Director. He received his bachelor’s of science degree from Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska -- one of the leading universities for teacher education. Mr. Romsa’s master degree in Education Administration was awarded through Grand Canyon University, a Christian university and one of the top online schools in the USA. Mr. Romsa is currently pursuing his Doctorate degree through Nova Southeastern University in Florida. He has been the Director at ICS since August 2008.

Meredith O’Hara
Mrs. O’Hara is from Southern Indiana where she was born and raised. After completing a Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics Education from Purdue University in 2008, she moved to Pyongtaek, South Korea to begin her teaching career. She is certified through the state of Indiana to teach grades 6 - 12 mathematics. Mrs. O’Hara has taught at PICS for 3 years, and she teaches all high school math classes and is responsible for high school principal responsibilities. Mrs. O’Hara is currently pursuing a Master’s of Education degree in Administration/Supervision from Liberty University.

Shannon Hugo
Southern California, born and raised, is Ms Hugo’s home stomping grounds. After completing a Bachelor’s degree in English for Teachers at Simpson University in northern California in 2004, she moved to Shenyang, China where she taught middle school English at a Christian international school for five years. After teaching high school English online for a year in South Carolina, she moved back to Asia, this time to Pyongtaek, South Korea, to be the high school English teacher. She is certified through the state of California to teach grades 7 - 12 English Language Arts. Ms Hugo is ready to start her second year at PICS, her eighth year teaching over all, continuing to teach English and help with Student Council.

Ryan C. Kolbe
Mr. Kolbe graduated from Taylor University in 2004 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Social Studies Education. At that time he also received a license from the State of Indiana to teach secondary Social Studies with an emphasis in World Civilizations, World Geography, and United States History. From August of 2005 to June of 2009, Mr. Kolbe taught at the International Academy of Suriname in Suriname, South America. He currently in his second year at PICS.

Michelle Chapman
Mrs. Chapman is from Tennessee. She attended University Tennessee Knoxville (UTK) and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Zoology in 1993. She then went on to earn a Master’s in Nursing from UTK in 1996. She worked as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Georgia for 3 years and then in Florida for 7 years. During that time she was a clinical site instructor for pediatric graduate students. In 2006 she and her husband moved to Korea. She maintains a Florida nursing license as well as board certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. This will be her 3rd year teaching secondary level science at PICS.

Mason Stanley
Mason Stanley is from the northern Virginia area. He graduated from Boston Baptist
College in May 2008 with his Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies with an emphasis
on Pastoral Ministries. Before coming to PICS he was a Student Minister. Mr. Stanley
has taught at PICS for one year, he has his teacher’s certification through ACSI, and is
also a certified John Maxwell leadership speaker, trainer, and coach.

Young Soon Lee
Mrs. Lee graduated from Korea University in Seoul with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Mathematics Education and also received a Korean teacher’s licence for mathematics. Later, she graduated from Michigan State University with a Master’s degree in Mathematics and Statistics. Mrs. Lee is also licenced to be a Korean Language Teacher in Korea. She has been working at PICS for 11 years.

Teal Romsa
Mrs. Romsa has a Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Nebraska-Kearney she earned in 1993. She comes the proud state of Wyoming where she was a secretary and wife of two children. Mrs. Romsa has been employed at PICS since 2008 and has served as administrative assistant for 4 years, second grade teacher for 2, and is currently entering her 3rd year as the Kindergarten teacher.

Jason Lantz
Mr. Lantz hails from Indianapolis, Indiana, where he participated in a variety of athletics during high school, including cross country, track and field, and soccer. He continued his soccer career at Anderson University where he majored in Spanish and Psychology. Mr. Lantz has been teaching PE at PICS since 2010, and also serves as the Athletic Director and Head Soccer Coach. He is certified through ACSI to teach K-12 PE.
