There's something very powerful about being part of a family. In a family, you know that people will support you, care about you, and still love you when you make mistakes. In a family, you know that you have people you can count on.
At ICS-P, In addition to being part of a grade-level classroom, all elementary students are also part of a family. At the beginning of each school year, five family groups are chosen by the elementary teachers. Each family includes students from different elementary grades, and each family has one of the elementary teachers as their family leader.
Families eat together every Tuesday during lunch, and they work on specials projects together as well. Families also compete against other families in order to win points. At the end of the year, the family with the most points wins the right to add their name to the ICS-P Family Cup.
Students LOVE their family groups! They chose their name, colors, and crest together, and throughout the year will build cardboard arcade games together, compete in a talent show, create works of art together, compete in sports events, and much more!
At ICS-P, we believe in the importance of educating the whole child, and our family group program shows children that they are loved and valued and that they have a place to belong.
